Master Power Technologies opens data centre training facility in South Africa

Master Power Technologies (MPT), an engineering company that provides data centre infrastructure and critical power systems across Africa and the Middle East, has opened a Customer Experience Centre in Midrand, South Africa, bringing its regional headquarters together with facilities for product testing, customer training and technical demonstrations.

Founded in 1999 by electrical engineer Menno Parsons, the company began as a supplier of uninterruptible power supply (UPS) systems and has expanded its business to deliver end to end data centre infrastructure. MPT also designs, manufactures and assembles products under its SURE and AIVA brands for deployment across African markets.

The new facility includes a 2 MVA UPS test platform and a 400 kW cooling systems test centre, allowing customers and partners to evaluate equipment under operating conditions before deployment. According to the company, the cooling test centre is the most comprehensive facility of its kind in Africa.

“The Experience Centre represents a new chapter for Master Power Technologies. It’s about creating a space where customers can engage with our technology, see it in action, and understand the depth of our capabilities,” said Menno Parsons, MD and Founder of MPT.

“This centre will be the most impressive UPS and cooling training facility in Africa, allowing our clients to touch, feel, and work with real systems in a way that has never been possible before.”

MPT said the site also reflects its approach to engineering and assembling modular data centre and energy centre solutions within Africa. The company said local assembly helps reduce logistical risks while allowing systems to be adapted to regional operating requirements.

The centre will also be used for technical training and collaboration with customers and engineers. It incorporates MPT's Advanced Infrastructure Visual Analytics (AIVA) monitoring platform, which the company says collects and manages operational metrics from more than 200 data centres across Africa to provide infrastructure analytics and operational visibility.

“Our business has always been about more than just selling equipment. We engineer solutions for Africa, by Africa. This Experience Centre is a testament to that philosophy, which strengthens our ability to train, innovate and deliver world-class infrastructure while remaining rooted in local expertise,” said Parsons.
