A South African healthcare regulatory body has deployed a managed security operations platform to expand cyber monitoring and incident response without building its own security operations centre. The organisation, which chose not to be identified, is among the first customers onboarded by InfoVerge Solutions to Cloudmania's SOC as a Service platform.
InfoVerge Solutions, a cybersecurity services company, delivered the implementation with Cloudmania, its preferred distributor, and infrastructure support from Liquid C2. The cloud based service uses Microsoft security technologies to provide continuous monitoring, threat detection and incident response while making use of the customer's existing Microsoft security licensing.
Before the deployment, the organisation completed a governance, risk and compliance assessment, with the findings presented to its executive team. The project was intended to address rising cyber threats, improve compliance and overcome resource constraints that prevented round the clock security monitoring. According to the company, creating an internal security operations centre would have required investment in technology, specialist skills and ongoing operations that the organisation considered impractical.
The service combines the customer's existing Microsoft security investments with operational support from specialists at InfoVerge Solutions and Cloudmania. The company said the approach gives the internal IT team additional security expertise while consolidating monitoring and response through Microsoft's security ecosystem.
“By helping customers get value from their Microsoft investments and utilising the SOC-as-a-Service in partnership with Cloudmania, we're enabling organisations to strengthen their security posture, reduce risk and access world-class cyber security capabilities in a way that is both scalable and cost-effective,” said Musa Mahlaba, CEO of InfoVerge Solutions.
Cloudmania, a technology distributor that provides cloud and cybersecurity services, said managed security operations are becoming an alternative for organisations that need continuous monitoring but lack the resources to staff a dedicated SOC.
“Security around the clock is no longer optional,” said Vic Booysen, Head of Cloudmania South Africa. “Hackers never sleep, and their methods are becoming increasingly sophisticated. SOC-as-a-Service allows organisations to access enterprise-grade protection without the burden of building and maintaining their own security operations centre.”
According to InfoVerge Solutions, the deployment has provided continuous monitoring that reduces visibility gaps and improves response times. The company also said the subscription model eliminated the need for significant upfront capital investment while allowing the customer to focus internal teams on priorities other than security monitoring.
