Yuno, a global financial infrastructure platform, has formed an alliance with Onafriq, an African payment network provider that manages omnichannel collections and stablecoin settlement. The agreement establishes a single connection point for international merchants to process transactions across 43 African markets.
The integration grants these merchants application programming interface access to nearly one billion mobile wallets and 500 million bank accounts. The technical partnership also provides connectivity to 2,000 cross-border payment corridors.
The integrated system is currently live in Egypt, Ghana, Kenya, Nigeria, Cameroon, Côte d'Ivoire and Uganda. The deployment targets the technical complexity that international merchants face when attempting to connect with fragmented local payment rails across independent markets. By combining the capabilities of both organizations, the vendors intend to reduce the time and technical overhead required for businesses to launch operations in the region. This deployment follows recent expansions by Yuno into Europe and Asia, alongside the Middle East.
The underlying infrastructure provided by Onafriq supports real-time disbursements and treasury management, in addition to card issuance. This architecture permits the merchant base operating on the Yuno platform to execute payouts to mobile wallets and bank accounts, as well as physical cash pick-up points. Customers can also accept payments through various channels.
"Africa's payment landscape has never lacked ambition or momentum; what it has needed is the right infrastructure that matches its pace," said Dare Okoudjou, CEO of Onafriq.
“Africa represents one of the most exciting growth opportunities in global commerce, and yet too many merchants are still locked out by payment infrastructure that wasn’t built for scale,” said Juan Pablo Ortega, co-founder and CEO of Yuno. “Our partnership with Onafriq changes that. By bringing their African network into our infrastructure layer, we are giving our clients a single path to a continent-wide ecosystem with the reliability, compliance, and local depth they need to grow with confidence.”
