Atos Group and Microsoft expand strategic collaboration

Atos Group, a French IT services and consulting company with 56,000 employees operating across 54 countries in sectors including defense, financial services, healthcare and public administration, has expanded its partnership with Microsoft, the Washington-based technology company, to deploy AI tools across its entire workforce.

The rollout covers Microsoft 365 Copilot for all employees and makes Atos the first French Global System Integrator to complete such a deployment, and among the earliest adopters worldwide to operate on Microsoft 365 E7 from general availability.

The foundation of the deployment is Microsoft 365 E7, a platform that combines Microsoft 365 E5, Microsoft 365 Copilot and Agent 365. Agent 365 is Microsoft's control system for observing, governing and securing AI agents across an enterprise. Atos has added Microsoft Entra Suite for identity management alongside Defender, Intune and Purview for security and compliance. The combined stack gives Atos a single control layer covering identity, security, compliance and agent governance across all its markets.

The governance dimension of the deployment is significant in scale. Atos is managing a population of 19,000 AI agents through Microsoft Agent 365, a figure that covers agents acting on behalf of individual users, agents operating with their own credentials, and agents from within the Atos partner ecosystem. All are administered through the same IT and security workflows the company's teams already use for other systems.

Alongside the internal rollout, Atos is deploying Microsoft Copilot Studio and Microsoft Foundry to build and operate agents for its IT functions, business operations and client work. These capabilities fall under what Atos calls its Sovereign Agentic AI studios, a delivery model aimed at bringing AI into production for clients in regulated environments.

Frédéric Aubrière, Group Chief Digital and Information Officer at Atos Group, described the deployment as a structural decision rather than a trial: "This is the most significant technology investment in our people that Atos has made in a generation, and a direct expression of our AI strategy. Giving every Atos and Eviden employee, wherever they sit in the value chain, a personal AI assistant changes what is possible for our clients. We are not piloting. We are deploying at the scale of the entire company, because we believe agentic AI will define the next decade of professional services, and we want our Atos people to lead that future, not follow it."

Jared Spataro, Chief Marketing Officer for AI at Work at Microsoft, framed the partnership around a shift in how enterprises are approaching AI adoption: "We've entered a new era of work, one where the most ambitious companies aren't just adopting AI, they're redesigning work from the ground up around it. That's exactly what Atos is doing. By putting AI in the hands of employees, they're unlocking new levels of speed, quality and innovation for their clients, and we're proud to partner with them on that journey."

The internal deployment also feeds Atos's client business. The company says it is already working with clients to deploy agentic AI in complex regulated environments and plans to use its own transformation as a reference model for those engagements, having operated as what it describes as "Client Zero" for the Microsoft platform before taking the approach to market.
