VA awards Salesforce $1.6B three-year AI platform deal

The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, which provides healthcare and benefits to more than 17 million veterans, has awarded Salesforce, a cloud CRM company, a $1.6 billion, three-year Agentic Enterprise License Agreement to deploy Missionforce, its government-focused AI platform, across the department. The contract extends a relationship between the two organizations that spans more than a decade.

More than 82 million direct-care appointments passed through VA's 170 medical centers and more than 1,100 Veterans Health Administration outpatient clinics in 2025, serving a population that extends to veterans' families and caregivers. As that volume has grown, disconnected systems have created administrative load that limits the time staff can spend on direct veteran service.

Missionforce will give VA employees AI agents and integrated data tools on a single platform, connecting workflows across benefits and care programs so staff can access information without switching between systems.

"Every minute a VA employee spends navigating disconnected systems is a minute not spent serving a Veteran. Salesforce gives VA a trusted foundation to connect its people, data, and workflows across the department. The goal is simple: Reduce administrative burden, help employees get to the right information faster, and give them more time to deliver the care and benefits Veterans have earned," said Kendall Collins, CEO of Missionforce and Government Cloud at Salesforce.

VA's Veterans First mandate directs the department to advance modernization and AI to improve access, outcomes and accountability across veteran-facing programs. The Missionforce contract fits within that initiative.

"VA serves millions of Veterans who've given everything for this country — and the people who work there show up every day committed to getting it right for them. Missionforce gives them the tools to match that commitment at scale: seamlessly connected data, AI that works alongside every employee, and a foundation of trust built to handle the most demanding missions in government. This is what it looks like when technology truly serves the mission," said Dave Rey, President of Global Public Sector at Salesforce.

Missionforce carries FedRAMP High authorization and HIPAA compliance certifications. The agreement was finalized through Salesforce's distribution network.
