HyperDev, a South African startup that built a generative AI software development platform designed to help users work with AI-generated code rather than just produce it, has raised more than US$1 million in pre-seed funding from a network of venture capital investors based in Europe and the UK. The company launched its alpha testing versions in 2025, released version 11 to a closed developer ecosystem earlier in 2026, and is approaching 100,000 users.
The platform centers on a feature called Guided Mode, which helps users work more efficiently with code generated by large language models to ship working websites, applications and other software. Non-technical users can also access the platform to hire developers who build further on the AI-generated output. The distinction HyperDev draws between itself and competing tools is not in the code generation itself, but in what happens after.
"Every AI coding tool on the market was built on the assumption that generating code was the hard part. We built HyperDev because we knew the hard part was what came after, and nobody else seems to be solving that," said Piotr Sobolewski, Chief Technical Officer and Co-Founder at HyperDev.
Falk Albers, managing director at Reinsurance Intelligence Quotient and general partner at Loom Ventures, one of the participating investors, described what separated HyperDev from other pre-seed bets in the AI developer tools category:
