My Office Apps, a company that makes cloud ERP software for inventory, manufacturing and distribution operations, has added AI inventory features to Kechie, its ERP platform aimed at mid-sized businesses. The additions consist of two components, one that recommends stock levels and one that recommends actions in materials requirements planning (MRP), both built into the platform's existing workflows.
The first component is a Min/Max Optimization Engine that analyses a company's historical sales and inventory data to recommend minimum and maximum stock levels for each item. Instead of relying on static rules and manual calculations, the engine bases its recommendations on demand patterns, usage trends and inventory movement over time, adjusting as those patterns change. According to My Office Apps, customers in early deployments reported up to a 25% reduction in stockouts, an 18% decrease in excess inventory and a reduction in the time spent on manual inventory planning.
The second component applies AI to Kechie's MRP function. The MRP Action Engine reviews several operational factors in real time, including the recommended minimum and maximum levels, current inventory balances, supplier lead times, open purchase orders, sales orders and active production jobs. Based on that data, it recommends specific next steps, such as placing a new purchase order, adjusting or cancelling an existing one, or creating a production job to keep inventory balanced. The intent is to move past flagging a shortage and toward recommending the action to address it.
"AI in ERP should solve real operational problems, not just generate reports," said Mehrdad Komeili, CTO of My Office Apps. "By embedding AI into both inventory planning and MRP execution, Kechie delivers intelligence where it directly impacts cost control, service levels, and operational efficiency."
The company said the recommendations from both engines are transparent and reviewable, which keeps planning staff in control of the decisions rather than having actions executed automatically. The features are available to Kechie customers.
