Baystate Health, a not-for-profit, integrated health system based in western Massachusetts that serves more than 800,000 people across five hospitals, more than 80 medical practices, a health plan and home care and hospice services, is expanding its relationship with Oracle Health, the healthcare technology division of Oracle. The expansion covers several Oracle Health products, including its electronic health record system, AI Data Platform, Patient Accounting, Patient Portal and Clinical AI Agent, and applies across Baystate's network including its health plan, Health New England.
The expansion comes as Baystate Health prepares for the planned corporate affiliation of Mercy Medical Center on November 1, 2026. The health system said it wanted a single, unified AI data foundation to support its hospitals, medical practices and health plan as that network grows, with the goal of connecting patient care to daily operations across its 13,000 caregivers, improving interoperability, reducing administrative work, and speeding up staff onboarding in ambulatory settings.
Peter D. Banko, President and CEO of Baystate Health, described the relationship's history and its current direction:
"For more than twenty years, Oracle Health has been a trusted partner of Baystate Health and Health New England in our Mission to advance our communities' health for all. Today, we are proud to leapfrog this relationship to modernize the way our teams work every day to make healthcare easier, safer, and more connected. We are putting patients first and building a future where receiving healthcare feels simpler, smoother, and more personal."
Baystate Health plans to implement Oracle Health's electronic health record system together with its Clinical AI Agent to automate clinical documentation, support interoperability between systems, and give staff more direct access to patient information. The health system will also adopt Oracle Health Patient Accounting, which applies AI and automation to financial workflows with the goal of improving operational insight and creating a more consistent financial experience for patients. A separate addition, Oracle Health AI Data Platform, is intended to unify data across Baystate's hospitals, practices and health plan, including the systems it plans to bring in through its affiliation with Mercy Medical Center.
Clara Guixa, Chief Information and Digital Officer at Baystate Health, framed the technology shift around the experience it is meant to create for patients and staff:
"We want to transform the healthcare consumer experience to a connected and intuitive digital footprint for our members and community. By reimagining our partnership with Oracle Health, we're establishing the foundation that will strengthen care delivery and give clinicians time to focus on what matters most—caring compassionately and safely for patients."
Baystate Health also plans to roll out Oracle Health Patient Portal, which will give patients a single digital point of access to their health information, appointment management, and communication with clinicians, supported by AI-generated insights into their care.
Seema Verma, executive vice president and general manager of Oracle Health and Life Sciences, connected the deployment to a broader pattern she sees across healthcare technology:
"The future of healthcare depends on strengthening the relationship between patients and caregivers. Baystate Health is demonstrating how modern technology and AI can help create meaningful patient interactions, enhance care coordination, and limit the administrative burden that too often pulls clinicians away from the people they serve."
